The Magic of Fairy Gardens


As a child I was fascinated by the stories of Enid Blyton, especially the ones involving bad tempered pixies and mischievous fairies. I wished with all my heart that there a Magic Faraway Tree growing in our garden, complete with a family of fairy folk living in its gnarled boughs. The closest we got to a Faraway Tree was a massive pine that was about 50 feet high at least, and took up virtually the entire front lawn (a mean feat when you consider that our block was a quarter of an acre and the house was small). Anything could have been hiding in it, or under it, so why not a fairy or three?
